Gear stick rattles - V40 D2
Hello,
I already asked and described my problem on other forum, but unfortunately I did not get the answer. That is why I am asking here. So, I have V40 D2 with manual transmission, it has 12 000 kilometers and now I have one problem with my car. 2-3 months ago I noticed that my gear stick rattles. It starts producing noise around 2500 rpm, doesnt matter in which gear it is. When I gently put my hand on gear stick that rattles stops. When I release hand, noise appears again. I was reading forums and I found that V70 had the same problem. I understand that my car has totally different transmission from V70, but guy described the same symptoms. He had to change cables and some counterweights connected with gear stick. Is there anyone who can tell me what is solution of this and is this dangerous problem? Thanks in advance Last edited by g520; Aug 7th, 2016 at 12:27. |

I would not think that this was at all dangerous, just annoying.
It ought to be fixed under warranty. Have you tried contacting the dealers? |

Is it the gear knob or the gear stick that rattles? have you tried holding the gaiter to see if the rattle is low down the stick?
