2018 XC60 rim size help
Hi all- I'm brand new here- be nice - and I'm planning to custom order my very first Volvo later this year. I'm going for the 2018 XC60 T6 Inscription. My question is about wheel size. I understand the bigger the tire the more expensive to replace and perhaps the less smooth of a ride, but the optional 22" Diamond Cut alloy rims look so awesome.
Can anyone speak to experience with having bigger tires and rims on their XC60 as opposed to the standard 20"? If I go bigger than 20", would I be better off getting the air suspension option? Thanks for any help! Last edited by jennylee59; Apr 5th, 2018 at 14:40. |

Generally less choice/competition at 20 and above so you can be stuck with a high price depends on tyre size so find out sooner rather than later if its a deal buster.
Tyres on my RS6 (20's) range from £170 - £250 but theres a fair bit of choice. A friends 5 series BMW were always c£250 (yes each!) as less choice of tread pattern. I'd be checking the ride quality at 20 never mind 22! depends what you are used to/what you require and who wears the trousers in your house! |

You have chosen a very popular topic for debate on this forum; always guaranteed to illicit a spirited exchange of opinions.
The tyre size is a factor and not just the cost but the choice. When my new car arrives in June, I won’t be able to put my favourite Michelin all weather tyres on it, because they don’t make them big enough. The ride is another debate. My experience of US pavement is generally smooth and certainly better than the current state of our A roads at the moment. 22 inch rims may work for you there. In short, you have to test drive, to satisfy yourself. Your idea of a smooth ride might not be the same as mine. Only you can decide.

That's what I've got, I would have been happy with 18", but not available on my choice of trim 19" being a good compromise.

For a balance between looks, comfort and tyre price I'm an advocate for 18's.
