1997 940 CD Turbo, HPT, full leather, all the options, lots spent on it - but my wife isn't working right now and we aren't using it.

Last 3 MOTs passed with no advisories cos I look after it!

Won't be huge money as it isn't perfect but I think it is very good. Thinking around £2k
Don't do it! put it on Sorn... you'll regret it

In January 2020 I paid £1500 for a 2004 Manual LWB Diesel Shogun with 150k on the clock. You cannot buy one now for under £3k - even wrecks with no MOT are expensive.

In 2011 I sold a Daf 44 for £400 - there's a similar one for sale at the moment £5k. Even 'starter' classics aer now big money - probably driven by demand during lockdown for hobbies. (like the costs of puppys has rocketed)

Volvos - especially pre 1998 ones are now going for serious money.

I think the impact of the recession caused by lockdown has been to make people buy second hand cars again and not to commit to a finance agreement as a result there are VERY few cars under £1k at the moment. You can still find V70s under a grand but no 900 series.

It's the same with W124s and E34s... and other German tin. I sold a 2004 A6 last year for £500 - exactly the same car was sold 2 months ago for £2500
Most of the older cheaper old volvos are used for Banger racing . about 15 get written off at each race !

I know - it is distressing - have you noticed the number of excellent condition 940s that are being broken on eBay?

I doubt they have perfect bodyshells.

These are three I've broken

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=313357

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=306803

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=302333

They all looked amazing on top (apart from the first one) but were completely rotten underneath. The first one I'm currently breaking and there is no way in the world anyone would even bother doing the welding required to fix it.

This one

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=305958

I bought off a drifter and the rear arch on the N/S and the area behind the wheel arch was completely stoved in and the axle had a welded diff that was blown.
