noise from engine bay with battery charger connected

With battery charger connected, negative on body chassis bolt and positive connected to post on battery, every 2 min there is a noise from under the bonnet, its like a electrical noise of something operating. This happens with car locked or unlocked.

Is this normal or is there a problem.

I put the trickle charger on mine for the first time a couple of days ago and noted a similar little noise. However, by the following morning it had stopped happening, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.
