That's crazy isn't it? Wow, that sensitive. I've changed so many wheels and tyre sets during my life but I guess not on a Volvo...

If I did purchase the 7.5, I'd just live with the 215/45 tyre which will be MARGINALLY stretched on a 7.5J wheel but well within the tolerance of what's possible as listed by the tyre manufacturers.

When I bought my V70R I ran it for two years, ignorant of the fact it had 2x 7J Comets & 2x 7.5J's. All had 205 tyres on them...
