1998 V70 2.3 rear boot light - boot switch?
Hi all,
I've read about the microswitch being faulty, so I will strip the boot trim and clean/check it again, but I recently purchased a new boot switch and was wondering where it goes? It's the traditional illumination switch which you'd normally see in door shuts etc (prong sticks out, and compresses when door shuts to close circuit). I can't find where on earth this goes? There no prong sticking out on the tailgate that makes contact when the boot shuts? Have I purchased the wrong part? Is this switch replaced on V70 with the microswitch inside the boot handle itself? Thanks |

The light switch is part of the boot lock mechanism - cleaning with electrical contact cleaner (propyl alcohol) often fixes the issue without replacing the microswitch.

Quote- "It's the traditional illumination switch which you'd normally see in door shuts etc (prong sticks out, and compresses when door shuts to close circuit)" This type of switch is normally earthed to the car body by the fixing screw- as previous mail not on the V70 (The 240 model has these) I have the same problem on my '97 V70 so interested in your follow up fix etc- it did respond to cleaning last time but not recently.
