First AAOS System Reset
And I though I was doing so well but it had to happen at some stage I suppose.
After stopping half way home (Cambridge Services) from a visit to see the in-laws, we got back in the car and drove off to find that nothing in the car would make any noise, Spotify, Radio, indicator blinking, nothing at all. I quickly remembered someone else on here having a similar issue a while back so quickly restarted the AAOS system (by holding the home button on the centre screen) and once the system restarted, full noise production had resumed. Thankfully, the car still operated and drove fine while AAOS restarted as I was on the move when I did it...................Not sure if thats the documented way but it did work. First restart of AAOS since I picked up the car in June 2022 so pretty much 12 months. Lets hope its not the start of things to come. One annoying thing following the restart, the trip computer fully reset and I was tracking my fuel economy since I picked the car up nearly 11k miles ago (it was close to 70mpg when it was reset which I'm pretty happy with) with no way to get that information back now. Not the end of the world I know but quite annoying.

That's either a strange coincidence or a glitch in the latest update - my car lost GPS conectivity (also near Cambridge!) this morning and I had to reboot the satnav (see separate post).
Or maybe the aliens/Russians have invaded Cambridgeshire?

I know your frustration, it's not a great experience.
Think of the car in the same way as a laptop, where rebooting a laptop is a normal routine action to keep it running smoothly. I reboot my XC60 most times when I get into the car as a normal routine action now. You can do it while you’re driving, so it’s easy.
These cars behalf more and more like buggy IT equipment every day, where some people have even had to disconnect the batteries to get joy. On a positive note the latest v2.9 software install this week did not brick my car. Woohoo for small mercies!

My crashes seem to be mostly related to Amazon, I stopped using it, no problems since.

Have had it go several times, but its not bad and takes 30 seconds to solve so while frustrating its an easy fix.
I think the system is shutting down if you leave the car parked for a few days, have noticed it taking longer to come on which is possibly improving reliability. On 2.9 now the last week or two and no issues with install, way more stable for these over the air updates Would not see the need to reset the screen every time you start the car, it should be much more stable than that. Only use Radio Online as an app, along with Bluetooth streaming, radio and maps built in, no carplay or anything and all works perfect. |
