Default srs airbag warning light

The srs airbag warning light was staying on in my T4 so I went to have it checked. The garage connected it to the computer and found a fault and reset it. The whole procedure took about 5 minutes and they charged me £42.

As A matter of interest I’m just wondering if anyone has had this done and what they were charged?

Thanks in advance

£42 is not that bad. I have heard other paying £50 or even £60 to reset it. The SRS light coming up is an issue for S/V40s and can be quite frustrating. There is no way to reset it unless you pay or you get the right scanner tool. I Instead bought an Autel Maxidiag EU702 tool from ebay for £100 (it normally goes for £125 upwards) and used it to reset my SRS light. My thinking was that this is how much i would pay to reset the light twice, so i decided to get the EU702. When one sad day I get rid of my S40 (I hope never), I am goig to sell it back on ebay and get some of my money back

I've just had a 'special offer' from Johnsons Volvo in Oxford. Apparently they will 'check' my air con for the 'bargain' price of £59.99. So that's £60 for the privilege of either (a) being told what I can tell for myself - namely that it's working fine, or (b) a lie, that's it's not, and that they can do unnecessary work for £xyz...

Gotta love these dealers. £42 for actually doing something is a total steal.

Thanks for the replies guys. At least now I know I wasn’t overcharged anymore than anyone else, as £42 for 5 minutes work seems exorbitant to me!

I wonder what a Main dealer would charge?

OK so non-dealer. Sorry I misunderstood.
I'm with you though! It's totally outrageous, whoever it is. A tenner would be fair, I reckon.

Sorry I didn’t explain properly. It was reset by an independent Volvo specialist.

Ouch... For an indy that is too much.

As I have said before, anyone living near me, feel free to drop by and use my EU702 as many times as you want free of charge. If you want, you can donate something small to my favourite charity. If every Volvo owner with an EU702 did this countrywide it would help many others. Andy, if you ever happen to drive by, you are more than welcome to try my EU702. A trip to France maybe? lol

Thumbs up S40 SRS Warning - East Mids - Alan Kent Motors - Ilkeston

A quick "heads up" for anyone in the midlands suffering with the SRS WARNING display.

Location - Ten Minutes from Junction 26 M1 motorway.
It won't reset itself after 1000 miles as posted elsewhere, (I tried).

I got the dreaded "SRS WARNING" after trying to replace my cabin filter. I didn't disconnect the battery when unpluging and removing the glove box.
Consequently, when I put everything back together......BAM!

Our local garage in ILKESTON has invested heavily in diagnostics, and is able to check and reset this warning (without charging Stealer-ship prices).

If you are unsure as to the root cause of your problem, I would recommend having a chat with them first.

A link is posted below.

http://alankentmotors.co.uk/Diagnostics.html

Many thank to Alan Kent and his team, please mention Karen with the black S40 recomended him on this forum.

p.s. I couldn't change the filter either, Alan did that too!
