Default Auto Gear Select Back Light

I have done a trawl of the forum and don't seem to be able to find an answer to my question.
I have a V40 SE Auto 2004. Ever since I have owned it there does not appear to be any illumination of the gear selection letters PRND43L.
My question is is there suppose to be any illumination to these and if so how do I access these bulbs, I have looked to see if there are any retaining screws but with negative results. I also looked to see if its possible to prize the wood effect panel off but there does not seem a way off removing it without damage.

Any suggestions?
What bulb type and numbers do I require?

Theres a small t5 LED under there. accessible through the side trim on the drivers side.
The side trim right to the side f the shifter.. where your feet are. remove it and look from the bottom. you will see its housing.

Thumbs up

Thanks for that information, now I see the diagram I realise where the screw is, I must be a bit of a wally as I was looking for a screw in the plastic trim as opposed to the carpet!

Sorted!

no mate, its a Volvo , they hide things in neat little places like that

a Haynes manual will help a lot, with getting things on/off and Where the screws/clips are

Vadis will help a lot more, but they use line drawings not photgraphs.
and there are times a "book" is more usefull than a computer with vadis on

(oil changes etc with a laptop,, or a book)
