Default Might be finally time to sell up......

My wife and I love our 940, its been amazing in the 2.5 years we've had it - she especially loves it and last year when I was thinking of selling it she persuaded me not to!

However this year we have both come to the conclusion that we can't afford to keep it "just because its cool". Cool you say? Yes! Loads of of friends think its a cool car - not everyone thinks a car has to be new to be good!

So I'm going to sort out any issues the car has (errr none really) and take it through the MOT so the new owner will have a full year before another one is due.

As I've spent so much time and money on it (like the previous owner who spent £10k on it in 5 years! Everything was replaced!) I'll make sure it goes to a good owner. It's a rare model and in very good condition with all of the usual 940 issues sorted already.

Anyone with the word "drift" in their internet history will not be buying it!

It's a real shame but sometimes you have to be realistic and I will look fondly on my time with the Volvo Mafia on here as a great bunch of people always ready to help out with unbelievable amounts of knowledge.

I'll probably not be able to afford another 940 in a few years so I'm glad I had time with a great one now. I'd like to try a C30 one day as I love the styling but I'll always say the 740/940 was the best car Volvo ever made.

So look out - come August it'll be up for sale with all the bits. I'll certainly have a tear in my eye when it goes, but as long as it goes to a good owner I'll be confident it lives on for a long time to come.

I just can't afford 2 cars I'm afraid! My company car is being replaced this month but the new one will cost me more per month. I don't have as much spare money as I did 2 years, or even 1 year ago so something has to give. I would certainly not be selling it unless I had to as its a great example of a 940 and I don't think I'd ever find one as nice ever again.

You should be able to put it onto a classic policy with some insurers?

Wouldn't you lose your NCD earned on the 940 after 2 years if driving a company car?

I also thought a company car was a free perk of the job?

New car will cost me at least £40 a month in tax more due to different tax band. I can’t choose the car I get.

Already on a classic policy of £200 a year, can’t get it any cheaper.

Not earning any NCD as it’s a classic policy with limited mileage.

Company cars always cost money even if it’s only by reducing your tax free allowance. Unless you can’t use it for personal use but I can.

feel your pain, ive 5 cars I have to insure, tax and run. The poor old lolvo hasn't turned a wheel in anger since 18th may but as I found with this one, they are going up in value and I had to pay double what I sold my last 940 manual for. I wouldn't be able to afford another low miles 940 again, so it`ll sit under its cover under the car port for a while yet

That's unfortunately a foregone if you aren't lucky enough to be running your own business.
