Default 940: Instrument Cluster / Switch Lighting

Hi All,

After some OEM Instrument cluster lights for my 940. Bulb holders I have already but the odd spare is always nice to have.

Also I require the bulbs from behind the switches. These are the type that cant be changed but the bulb and holder disconnects as one from the wiring.

Hopefully someone out there has a few going spare.

Cheers
Jim

Aren't the dash lamps really standard capless bulbs that you can obtain from almost any motor shop? I thought for a long while that some of them were integral with the base like the later switch bulbs but they aren't. You just have to get a good grip on them to pull them out.

There are two different types of switch bulb. The one in the headlamp switch is different to the ones in the ash tray and heated seat switches. Last time I needed some they were both still available from the dealer at a price. I recall seeing some forum posts on a US forum from people who had successfully "repaired" the OEM bulbs by removing the actual bulb part and soldering in a suitable replacement from Radio Shack. Alternatively, if you can find an older Volvo 740/940 at a scrap yard I think they had bulb bases similar to the later composite bulbs but which also took a standard capless bulb.
