Default 2008 Petrol ABS Rings

Hi, When I was fitting new brake discs and pads i noticed a cracked and rusty reluctor ring. it wasn't showing any codes but i know it was only a matter of time.

It's quite an easy job to do. I'm putting a few photos on here which might help anyone who wants to have a go.

Once jacked up and the wheel removed, I took out the abs sensor and removed the cable from the plastic bracket, then removed the bolt from the centre of the driveshaft and used the plastic handle end of a screwdriver to drive the shaft back
a bit, just to make sure it moves. I loosened the bottom bolt that attaches the hub to the shock absorber and removed the top bolt completely. Pull the hub out slowly and at the same time pull the driveshaft out of the hub. Keep an eye on the brake pipe so it doesn't stretch, mine was fine.

The old ring was easy to remove because it was cracked and rusted. i cleaned the rust from drive shaft before fitting the new one. The rings i got came with glue so i put some on on the shaft and used a copper headed hammer to tap the ring home.

I've done this very job after getting the ABS light and a couple of messages. The ring can be replaced in situ but it is easier to remove the driveshaft and most of the hard work has been done just to get to the ABS ring. I even managed it without a vice. I've made a YouTube video which has yet to be uploaded. I can post a link once I've uploaded it. I found the ABS ring for just under £8 at my local GSF (link below) and it was in stock. The price will vary depending upon the discount code and it has risen slightly since I bought mine.

Hi, Mine was on the right hand side, which is the long shaft with the bearing and bracket. with the V8 engine there is hardly enough room to remove the bracket to get the shaft out. It's doable but would probably have put another hour on the job, I was surprised how easy it was, the ring was rusty and cracked, a firm tap with a hammer and chisel and the ring fell off, I was going to replace the one on the left side as well, but when i got to that point it was in perfect condition.
