Looking at the stats everyone has posted, it looks like you might as well just buy a T5 as the MPG is basically the same across the entire engine range.

Admittedly mine is a P1 V70[don't know how much difference the change to P2 would make]it's a 2.4 petrol 10v 140.At present under its normal daily use it's showing a 20.7-up in the last couple of weeks from 20.4-average but that's for a 2.7ml trip to work.A couple of years ago on a run of just over 12omls at mainly 60mph[odd burst up to 70]I got just in the low 40s mpg.I suspect if I used it more and did more longer trips it'd work out somewhere mid 30 ish average.

Depending on your age, claims history and location you might find the difference in annual insurance and other maintenance costs across the range is more significant than the variance in fuel consumption cost.

I've been a member on here many years and have seen this "what mpg...." several times and the conclusion in I'd say 85% of them is the above conclusion. There will always be someone who violently disagrees .... but that's what you call life.

Additionally, a T5 will give you 85% more than its less powerful siblings.

Cheers
Bob

My 2.4 140 bhp at 105k miles gives:

Lows of 28 mpg on a 500+ mile trip when I am fully laden with kayaks on the roof, 4 passengers and lots of gear in the back.

Highs of 34 to 35 mpg when I am running light and cruising at 65 to 75 mph.

My overall average appears to be 31 mpg taken from calculations of fill-ups and an annual mileage of 10,000.

That's around what my old bi-fuel (with non working gas) would return on petrol. that was an S60 with the 140bhp engine

You might as well get the full 170bhp unlocked via a remap.

Hang about, are you saying the 140 can be upped to 170 by a remap?Does this apply to the 10v P1 motor also?If so where from and for how much £££'s?

Not sure about the P1 motor, but the 2.4 140bhp P2 engine is completely identical to the 170bhp version, but is pegged back to 140bhp by the computer. Most places should be able to remap it. Or you can do it yourself using a softloader device like the BSR PPC.

When it comes to computer type stuff I can do the forums and e-bay plus do e-mailing so a remap if it can be done would be left to those who know what they're at."A man's gotta know his limitations"as I believe Clint Eastwood said in one of his films
