Default Front seat back inclination/adjustment stuck

Hey guys,

I have an 87' 244 GLT that 'now' has a slight problem with the passenger seat...

So my friend wanted to check out my car and I couldn't say no! He sat down in the front passenger seat and completely reclined the back of the seat. All was well until he tried putting back into the upright position. He managed to get the back of the seat 1/4 of the way into its original position before the nob (used to recline/adjust the seat) got stuck. Now the back of the seat can only be adjusted a few degrees, it can be reclined until it reaches the rear seats but will not rise above 30 degrees before the nob gets jammed and won't incline the back of the seat.

Has anyone else experienced this with their manual seat back inclination/adjustment?

Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks

I've never had this happen, but the problem is likely to be straightforward. Here's a link for taking the seat back apart. Best done with the seat out, as it's so quick and easy to remove the seat (4 bolts).

I found this video very helpful when restoring my seats.

The reclining nob and how to remove it is covered in the first 2 minutes.
