Default XC60 is screaming at me!

Hi All,
After years of eying then up, I finally have my own Volvo XC60. It’s a 2.0 D4 R-Design with a manual box. 3 years old and a great price from a local trusted dealer.

However; there is a high pitched screech coming from under the bonnet when the vehicle is revved and it really loud when travelling at high revs, especially with the window open! I am 100% sure it is not the Turbo. The garage have looked at it and simply said “nothing is showing up on diagnostics”.

Please help, it’s driving me insane!!!

What on earth makes you trust this dealer? They sound terrible!

Take it back and complain properly...

Sorry, I should have said they have rave reviews on line, I’d never used them before. They have now agreed to take it to the local Volvo dealer, but I want to get an idea of what it might be so I don’t get fobbed off again.

I reckon if the engine fell out, some dealers would still need diagnostics to pinpoint.

Ha, you’re right there. What happened to mechanics looking for the problem rather than “computer says no”

I imagine it could be a belt slipping?

Good luck at Volvo. I'm sure they'll fix it!
