Unhappy C30 2.0D Temperamental Starting and Air in Fuel Delivery

Hi,

I have recently bought a c30 with 119K miles on the clock. A couple of weeks after buying the clutch and dual mass flywheel needed replacing - all done. A week or so following that ignition became temperamental and eventually the car wouldn't start.

Fuel filter and housing replaced - some improvement but still air in system when revved. As old fuel filter was disconnected, engine service light came on.

Entire system has been bled and back pressure applied to try and find a leak - nothing. In the diagnostic system, after running for a while it gives the error code: "120F Fuel Pressure Control Valve. Faulty Signal".

Filled the tank to fully submerge the fuel pump system in the tank but this made no difference. Air still getting into system somehow. Experienced mechanic even stuck with this so any help or suggestion at all would be greatly appreciated - just bought this car for a few bob and don't want to see it go to scrap over a bit of air!

Further info: car will start eventually, either alone or with revs. Initially air in system just following ignition, but this clears up when ticking over. Small amounts of air present when revs applied.

TIA.

There can always be a small amount of bubbles in the fuel, a lot of large ones would be a problem.
I'm assuming the car runs fine when started so doubt it's air as this would make it run rough all the time.
Have you checked pre heaters and relay ?
