Default Vehicle ID

On the VOSA website about the recalls it says about the vehicle ID, How do I find out my vehicle ID and see if mine falls within the batch that needed to be recalled?

The vehicle ID is your VIN number (last 6). They have just zero'd out the all the other bits which mean trim, engine etc...

They presumably mean the Vehicle Identity Number or 'VIN'.

Mine is clearly visible on the metal rail immediately above brake master cylinder (and of course in registration documents).
