Sleeping in your wagon
I’ve seen a few you tube videos of folks wild camping in their XC70, and sleeping in it. Anyone here done this, if so how do you lock the doors from the inside at bedtime, without activating the alarm. I assume it’s got a motion sensor? Could be a rude awakening if it went off at 3am as you turned over.

You don't lock yourself inside a tent....
The only issue I can see is cold. Condensation and sleeping inside a metal box |

If you lock the doors using the button on the door switchpack (by the window buttons) it doesn't activate the alarm (well, not on my 2007 S80 and I can't imagine a scenario you would want to be locked in a car with an alarm activated so presumably applies to all models / years!)

Bear in mind they deadlock after a duration. If the Mrs rips a rip snorter of a fart and you need to get out, you're going to have to find the keys sharpish to get out. That 10 seconds fumbling for a fob will be like an eternity...
Use the door lock buttons in the drivers door. But- Sleeping in a car, Consider limo tints in the back, Curtain to separate front cab from sleeping area, 20-30mm celotex foam cut to fit over rear windows and passenger windows, helps insulate immensely. Crack a window open, Team heko wind deflectors help mask that. If you really want to go balls deep, Consider fitting insulating material to the roof, Dropping the headliner obviously. Done a few times in my XC-940 (Lifted 940). Its great when it rains... Best nights sleep ever! |
