I know on other cars this water can come from the engine compartment bulkhead at the bottom of the windscreen and can be caused by a poorly re-fitted splash guard, blocked drains (leaves), or a poorly re-fitted pollen filter surround etc. the water literally enters the heater ducts via the pollen filter and finds it's way to the lowest point under the seats.

Alternatively it could be air con condense water which is supposed to drip under the car but maybe the hose has popped off or been caught during some recent work or whatever?

Default sunroof drain

Does your car have a sunroof? If so, I'm guessing one of the drain tubes is blocked. This happended on the passenger side of my S40T5 and caused a very wet rear passenger footwell carpet and lots of water (around an inch!) under the front passenger seat at the lowest part of the floor.

The problem in my instance was that the outlet for the sunroof drain has a very small aperture which was clogged with dirt. To resolve this I had to:
1) remove the A-pillar trim
2) follow drain tube down to dashboard where it connects into an rubber elbow going through the dashboard (this is the blocked part)
3) disconnect drain tube from elbow around dashboard
4) pull elbow out of dash board (very difficult to get to it, had to use pliers)

I then replaced the elbow with a piece of plastic tubing as I couldn't get it back in.

No problems since.

I regularly test both sides now by pouring a small amount of water directly down the sunroof drain holes (located in both front corners of the sunroof when it is open). If all is well it should come out just behind the front wheel on that side.

Good luck!

Hey E13THR,

What was the outcome with your car? I may have a similar problem.
