1988,VOLVO,740 TURBO DIESEL , Very stright car N.Ireland

some of you may know I got this car last month of a member of the site (volvobm)
The car drove home fault's the 100+ miles home . I have been driving it week about with my other Volvo 760, As much as I would like to keep both cars , one of them has to go ,

So here go's

Bare in mind is over 25 years old in daily use .

Mot'd and Tax'd till Jan 2014.
here is a 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo Diesel . Auto
deep multilac Blue . looks well when the sun is on it .
she is the 2.4 , d24 ,VW 6 cylinder
Most of the Mot's are there and it has apx 140k .
New clocks have been fitted for speedo stopped working , New clocks show 4000 miles
The car is in original condition except the radio has been changed
the out side of the car is very straight, and I can only see one very very small rust on the bottom of the driver side rear , just above the rear bumper .I have the headlight wiper .
The inter has the a bit of ware and tear , No wrinkley door Cards but the door pockets have cracks in them . also there is two small cracks on top of the dash . head cloth a bit taty.

She has the normal Volvo standard equipment .
Heated rear window & wing mirror's
Heated seats
Front elc windows & wing mirror's

The car is in Lisburn Northern Ireland and still has the Mainland V5

another great looking and very rare car for a very reasonable price, i really can not understand why it has not been snapped up.

i think i seen this one on gumtree and tbh if it had been a manual g/box i think i would have bought it straight away.

good luck with the sale rod and i hope it goes to a forum member who looks after it.

Is AUTO ,but I can't help that ,

The only thing that is not original is the radio .
it even has a full set of original mud flaps .
Very cheep to run
classic insurance.

I've been looking for an auto TDi 850/V70 phase1 to replace my thirsty 960, and keep getting tempted by the likes of this. Wonder how it compares to the later diesels? I know it won't be quite as advanced, but I love the extra space for starters. Are these much slower and thirstier?

You know you wanna d24 a 960, all the cool kids do it you know!!

Oh, in manual trim I get around 28mpg mixed with around 150-200kg in the back ALL the time. Maybe dropping to around 25 with my foot down. I have turned my pump up a little though.
