Default Blade fuse for fuel pump?

Hi All,

Almost a new year and still an age old problem.

I'll cut to the chase.

Has anyone here or otherwise fitted a blade fuse holder to the main fuel pump fuse probably with ring terminals and mechano nuts and bolts or for the higher skill set maybe solder, perhaps one of those pre wired with the waterproof cover as supplied by CBS or VWP.

I'm confuddled Some forum members have replaced the relevant fuse board fuses by inline blade fuses. Are you referring to something else?

You can make up a suitable single blade fuse adaptor with a double male/female connection on each end and use that across the fuel pump fuse position. When buying the adaptor, make sure it will take the fuse size you need. Fuse will be outside the box cover.
Picture is a similar item used on an Amazon fuse box.

Is your engine LH2.4? This thread about the fuel pump relay for Volvo 240 LH2.4 engines has a lot about fitting inline blade fuses instead of the two troublesome ceramic fuses.

I hope that helps.

Default An Update

Hi All,

Just thought I would post my blade fuse conversion for the main fuel pump.

As you can see in the middle of the first picture the molten mass of red was a 16A fuse (many of you will be familiar with this problem).

After cleaning the contacts for fuse 6 it was easy to fit short wires with female spade terminals then a simple blade fuse holder form Halford's.

The fuse and holder do tuck in behind the fuse box cover without too much protest.

I hope to keep you up to speed with the success or otherwise of this experiment, however this may take a while as my Volvo is still far form road legal.
