phase 1 b4204s cams into phase 1 T4

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has done this mod. It's simply putting N/A cams from a 2.0 volvo s40 into a T4. Is it like a straight swap like removing the cams, buying new cam seals, swap the cams and put it back together or is it more like adjusting timing and putting the engine into TDC?

Having owned a Phase1 for 16years until it rusted away, the only replacement was a newer, low mileage Phase2. Absolutely love it and so, so, much nicer than the P1. My work circumstances have changed over the years, so not doing silly miles for work in my own car anymore, so hopefully it will last another 20 years, if not, I shall be disappointed. I am maintaining it for the long term and keep it as Volvo intended.

The C70 is also long term and is a truly fantastic car, has far exceeded my expectations. The ride, comfort and handling is very similar to my friend's Corniche drophead. At a tenth of the cost.

Yes, I am, absolutely what I was hoping for and some more. I started a thread on the 850/x70 forum http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=247742. Some very sound advice and well worth reading.

What surprised and disappointed me was how neglected most of them seem to be, especially when one considers how expensive they were when new. You will have to waste your time viewing a lot of rubbish before 'the car' comes along.

If you are looking for a sporty soft top, go for a MX5 or similar. If, however, you want quality, comfort and luxury open top motoring the C70 is perfect.
A hell of a lot of car for not much money.

I have checked the link for the other forum. So it does look like a direct swap but otherwise no further details. Only because it took me ages to remove and swap the cams from the wreakers initially lol. I might have to pay someone to do it just to be safe.

You will need one of these as the timing is less,negative, on one of the cams and more,positive, on the other .....

I have done this mod, on 2 of my engines, b4194t2 and the dreaded b4204t5 lump...the later was more difficult as we had to cut where the cam sensor picks up the rotation on both ends of the cams sensor side, on a lathe, so it was relatively balanced, but on the b4194t2 as I remember was a lot more simple, straight swop.....
