'Tiny' Leak from ATF Intercooler Outlet?
Hello all!
First time posting on the S60 forum! I used to have a 2001 S40 T4, but have recently sold that and bought a S60 T5 SE 2001 Geartronic. I must say it is a wonderful car to drive, although a little costly!. I decided to change the ATF today, and proceeded with the drain-refill technique flushing out the whole system (made a bit of a mess in the process!). The oil was very brown and was in need of changing. It seems to have gone well, but, maybe I'm being a little paranoid, but I think I may have introduced a tiny leak from the top intercooler ATF outlet (the outlet that accepts the green-clipped hose of which I had to yank/twist quite hard before it'd come out!). I can't see any visible leak from the area, but after a drive (or if the car is left idling for a while), I'm able to get a tissue and wipe off ATF from where the green clips meet the outlet, on the underside of the outlet. I don't know if the ATF can escape from there, but there seems to be a *very* small build up of ATF. My questions are: (i) is this normal? (ii) if there is a slight buildup, is the fluid able to escape 'through' the green clips and leak ever so slightly? (iii) is it something to worry about? if it's not normal, is there anyway I can stop this without having to get a new pipe that connect the intercooler to the auto housing? (e.g., tape around the connection, washer, etc) Many thanks in advance! Afzal Last edited by afzalmj; Jan 10th, 2007 at 17:59. |
