Have you got front parking sensors? Unless they were an added option I don't think the momentum has them as standard. There will be blanks fitted to where the sensors are fitted, which look the same as sensors.

Answering original post question: the car will not brake, the park assist is just an audible warning that changes to a solid tone about 2 feet before you hit anything.

Yes I have parking sensors, I'm not as daft as I look!

Not suggesting that for one moment.
Several owners have asked about this having thought they had non working front parking sensors because of the blank covers on the bumper where parking sensors would be fitted,

Like much of the electronics on my car, when it's all working great then everything is fine but once in a blue moon something doesn't work right. Now and again the sensors tell me there's something there when there isn't, it's only failed to tell me there really is something there the once. A couple of times in the three years I've had it the collision avoidance system tried to save me from non-existent collisions, the radio comes on all on its own now and then, never on the station I last used, static from the speakers for no reason a couple of times, voice control asks what I want when I haven't pressed the button, wipers go mad for no reason...

I think the point I'm trying to make is that even if it had a system to brake before I reversed in to something - I wouldn't trust it.

Spooky. Maybe an Exorcism would help.
