Just fitted 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 4s in 235 40 18 to my Capella wheels, will keep the Crossclimates for winter now on one of my spare set of wheels.

Looking forward to fitting them to the car and seeing how they fare.

The Crossclimates have been superb all year round for the last few years tbh.

Interested to hear your thoughts when you get them on the car, I would probably seriously consider Pilot Sport 4s next time as for all the CCs are good I don't know that I would choose them over a dedicated summer tyre.

Michelin Primacy 4. Very pleased with them. Quiet, comfortable ride. Outright grip not too bad but that's not really what I am interested in these days.

Another vote for Cross Climate. Dry grip superb, wet grip outstanding, road noise improved over Verde.

My new to me XC70 came with 4 recent Pirelli Scorpion Verde. They’re fine in the dry and ok with standing water etc when going in a straight line, but I’m unimpressed with wet cornering performance so far. I’ve had quite a few occasions where the traction control basically disables the accelerator pedal due to lack of traction, and I’m not just talking about >30mph, but at low speed damp roundabouts, junctions etc.

I’m not sure how much of this might be down to DSTC compared to traction control on the other vehicles I’ve driven. Not sure how eager it is to kick in.

I’ve got Conti all seasons on my van and they are significantly better than the plastic Bridgestones they replaced, factory fitted with loads of tread left, but cracking sidewalls a 6yo was a good excuse to get shot of them. Always tend to go with Contis and have never been disappointed. If it wasn’t for the fact I’m not working at present, the xc70 would be getting 4 new tyres and I’d flog the Pirelli’s.

Just about to fit some Toyo Proxies on our v70 today.T1r i believe which are a common track day rain tyre. At 105 a pair it isnt bad for a uprated tyre.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres and they are fantastic! I didn’t choose them they just came already fitted when I bought the Volvo but I will definitely be sticking with them. The drive is amazing and I was at Santa pod last Sunday and pretty much every single car there had them on! All those people and me can’t be wrong. I have the 2 rears to get soon and I’m just looking around for a good deal on a pair.

I would say you need to get your traction control checked out. I know its a personnel choice with tyres to some extent, but I doubt any one would expect the traction control to come in as you describe.

I've also got Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on mine (fairly new). Think I had rainsports before.

There's about a million times less squealing on full lock now.... Still takes me two nibbles to get on my drive though
