Default Indicator failure

It's happened about 3 times in the last few weeks.
I get a red alert regarding indicator failure however I don't really noticed anything wrong with them.

Does anyone have similar experience? Just wondering if I should book it in.

Are you resting your hand or even a finger on the indicator stalk? If it's pushed fractionally down for more than a few seconds it registers a fault.

I had this happen when I had my hand on the indicator stalk ready to indicate and had slight pressure on the stalk but not enough to activate the indicator. Everything worked ok when I used them, I tried this again to see if it was the cause and it flashed up the warning again.

Yes, 16 times and counting since November and 3 times in October 2019.

Dealer informed to investigate during its next service before the 3yr warranty lapses.

Previously (October) the dealer did a software update, which they claimed would fix the fault.

Can’t predict the fault and no extra pressure applied to the stalk of note.

Likely to purchase the extended warranty because of this, as I doubt they will rectify the issue.

Yes, I might have, was turning out from a tricky junction.

I had this a year or so ago. Started with just an error message, but then the right indicator got progressively worse over the space of a week - skipping/irregular, then sometimes failing to come on at all in the end. So, I had to get it booked in as an emergency.

Long story short, I got two new stalks and the associated control unit fitted (no idea what is was actually called). Under warranty though thankfully.

Would you be able to notice whether they are working properly while driving?

I tried to gauge from reflection of other vehicles or buildings.
I suppose the reassuring ticking sound and no aggro from other users meants the indicators are working.

When I'm home I tested all indicators with the help of the missus and they are ok.

Luckily I've extended my warranty. I'll keep an eye on things hopefully it's not something more sinister.

When it fails to come on do you get the warnings in Car Status or any visible warnings?

I believe that this is about the only reliable way, I don't think there is still an audible turn indicator relay involved.
