There are two other reasons to use an authorised Volvo dealer. Firstly they can link the car to the Volvo mainframe computer in Gothenburg and update the software which they will do free of charge if you service the car just once a year with them. Other garages do not have access to the Volvo mainframe and cannot upgrade the car's software. Secondly they will give you a years free Volvo Breakdown service which is probably worth between £100 and £150 a year, depending on where else you would buy a breakdown service which you would not now need if you let Volvo service the car.
These things may not matter to you but I mention them because no one else has. Not all Volvo dealers are monsters. I have quite a good working relationship with my local Volvo dealership.
