Limp started with no warning lights although all warning lights eventually came on and flashed a few times then it settled on the ABS one. A couple of hours waiting for the AA they arrived just as it dawned on me that there would be a fuse to disable the system. Sure enough whipping out two fuses got me going again albeit on reduced braking efficiency.
What fuses did you remove to bypass limp mode and what car do you have?

Try A&L Motors in Castletown. Looked after my Shogun for years, now my V70 will go there. Happy for you to supply own parts and is reasonable ££.
On list as D. Mackay, Caithness. No.178
D.Mackay were dealers/ service for Volvo 30+ years ago, but not in last 15 years to my knowledge since I live up here now. New owner A&L is a very good one man band with a clientele that followed him from Thurso in smaller premises. Always busy.

Hi
I have a Volvo V50 2011
It has gone in to "limp-mode" and the amber engine light and "Anti Skid Service Required" is showing.
I'm looking for someone, ideally in east London, to do a diagnostic and repair on it. Any recommendations?
I'm in Walthamstow and have heard of a "Terry" from Swedish Motors but I have been unable to get hold of him. If anyone has his number or someone else to recommend I would be grateful.

Thanks

Mikael

Talking Ron Sealey - Independent Volvo Specialist Fife

After having a lot of work done on a recent visit to Ron's garage in Cowdenbeath I wanted to recommend his services to other members.

My car went in for a service, MOT and no hot air from the cabin heater. I arrived later than hoped on a Sunday evening and Mark was still working on a customer's car but he kindly had a quick look at mine while I was waiting for my lift and diagnosed a couple of things straight away, including a burst heater matrix. I left my P2 XC70 with the garage and throughout the process, Ron kept me updated with progress and together we worked out what could be done in my budget to get the car in a fit state and MOT worthy. The repairs took longer than we had hoped due to the sheer amount that needed doing to my car but I have to say that it drives like a new car after their hard work.

I'll be returning to Ron's garage in future despite it being close to 150 miles away from me as it's worth the trip for the excellent service, workmanship and obvious in depth knowledge of all things Volvo. I can't recommend this garage enough!

SW Autos, Biddenden, Kent:

I can't make a recommendation about work carried out as they can't even be bothered to show up at their garage. Pre-booked a cam belt replacement for 10:00 am, no one was there, the premises were all locked up, waited until 11:00 am, still no show. As I'm an hour's drive away it was a wasted morning for me along with fuel. I subsequently attempted communication via phone, E-mail & via their Facebook page, couldn't even be bothered to give me the courtesy of a response. That indicates to me how they like to run their business. Therefore it would seem I had a lucky escape. Complete waste of space. BTW on their website it shows a car park full of high-end cars, it's nothing of the sort, it's a dingy clapped out workshop & the car park had an old 850 in the corner in bits that's obviously been there some considerable time due to the moss growing on it & that was it. You have been warned.

Heads up for Hallam and Sutherns in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire

Volvo and Saab specialists - have been in the area for many years and well known. Small Showroom with workshop as part of the unit - always have a few lovely Saabs and Volvos available. Great service, know their Volvos, use Volvo parts and have full diagnostics and dealer software updates available. Loan cars are never a problem while they work on your car. I am very happy with the service and will keep taking my Volvo there for servicing.

Default Garages in the far north

Anyone recommend an independent garage/mechanic in Inverness area or further north to Orkney?

Did you find anywhere in East London?

I can say that Swedish Motors Services in Leyton (40b Grange Park Road) definitely no longer exists at that location. I drove past the address today and the workshop has been flattened.
