Volvo Assistance
Hi.
In November I returned to Volvo buying a low mileage 2017 XC60 and as a Volvo Selekt motor it came with Volvo Assistance. I am now about to renew my insurance and breakdown cover. Is the Volvo Assistance as good as the AA or RAC? Can I really dispense with those providers and put all my trust in Volvo Assistance, particularly as I intend to tour Spain and Portugal later this year (C19 allowing)? Many thanks in anticipation |

Was also useful as he had access to the systems to get it straight into the dealer for repair when needed. Word of warning though. I had a car on pcp new from the dealer via Santander. When the car broke down I called out Volvo assistance as it was given to me with the car as would be expected. Later down the line as problems continued. Santander said I had acted outside of my finance agreement by using Volvo assistance. Had to go all the way to the ombudsman on that.

I can only say good things. Used twice and both times they (Allianz) came out quickly and diagnosed the problems, the second bloke went well beyond his duty by looking at some extra things I mentioned to him. If you get your car serviced by Volvo you get a year’s cover thrown in.

Same thing here, I have had to use twice - both times the recovery service was out quickly - once the car was taken away to the Dealer (D4 EGR problem) and the hire car was ready within an hour.
The other occasion, the problem was solved by the recovery guy. Honestly don’t think you need to pay for additional recovery services on top of the Volvo one.

I have used Volvo Assistance on a few occasions and it has been a positive experience - certainly no need for additional recovery services.
Something to be aware of; you may only get a Volvo-specific technician during the day. At night Volvo Assistance will still send assistance but it may be a general technician rather than a Volvo-specific technician. This is based on experience that's a couple of years old so it may have changed.

Thanks all for the advice. Most reassuring.
I can't help but feel that Volvo are very understated in promoting this service. When I bought my Selekt XC60 at a very good price, it came with a 12 month Warranty, 12 month MOT insurance and Volvo Assistance. An EMAC service plan gives me reduced cost servicing at a Volvo dealer and a free MOT test. All in all, the total savings of using Volvo main dealer (my local dealer is very good) with the breakdown cover, discounts and free MOT mean I save in the region of £100 per annum. That'll do nicely. |

I was with Green Flag who are pretty good but have used Volvo Assistance once.
On the phone to the control center they said about two hours but the technician arrived on site within an hour. Great service.
