Vida Dice 2014D - !!! HELP !!! -
Hi,
I hope you are well! I have a Volvo V40 1.9D from 2003 with a D4192T3 engine and I am the only owner, I have been doing all the mechanical interventions that have emerged for some time now and I have already bought two Vida Dice 2014d to help me with the diagnosis, but none of them has access to the ECU! In all the other modules there is no problem because I can enter them and solve some problems, but in the ECU, I can't! The first Vida Dice 2014d I bought from a Chinese ebay seller and the second is Aliexpress. I suppose there is no problem with the ECU, as any quality diagnostic device has access to it. I tested it two weeks ago in a garage and I was able to read the errors I had at the time. I'm a little desperate here, because I would like to have an operational device to be able to do all the necessary interventions, because I love this car! What are your suggestions? Do you advise a particular seller? What can I do? Thank you in advance for your help! Stay safe! Regards, Mike Last edited by mike v40; Feb 27th, 2021 at 08:18. |

There used to be two different quality DiCE many years ago. One with all original microchips and one with a few missing. The one with the missing microchips would not work with the ECU of the 1.9d. I bought 4 dice over the last 8 years and the second one would not read the ECU. When I took it apart, I realised it had the microchips missing. See photo below

Hi gatos,
Thanks for answering. Well, I already knew that, when I had the opportunity to read a comment from you on another thread, when I investigated here on the forum about possible causes of the devices not accessing the ECU, and I opened them both to find out if the microships were missing, but I was amazed because both devices have microships as in the photo of the green board! This situation is strange, as I have access to the other modules but I cannot enter the ECU, says the following message - ECM is not responding - and is orange color. The other modules are green. Two weeks ago I did a test in a garage with a very expensive device from Bosch, and I was able to read the errors. So I don't think the ECU is defective! I am afraid to buy another device and then it will not work again! For that reason I come here to the forum for someone to advise me a good one. Many thanks. Aahhh, ok. Didn't realise that. One thing worth mentioning, is that on my second dice, that was not working with the 1.9D, the ECU was greyed out and bit orange. Only way I can think off, is if you can try to read another 1.9D with your DiCE and see what comes up. I don't know what else to suggest. Unfortunately we are stuck with a difficult car to read and hope it is not going to be a problem in the future

Hi everyone,
Thank you Gatos again! You are a very helpful person. As I am unable to contact the members because I am a newbie here and have not yet reached the quota of 30 comments, to be able to send messages privately, I would like to propose a deal to members with cars S40 / V40 1.9D second series and that live in the UK ... There is a member here on the forum who is the cheshired5 who sells this Dice and who is being successful with the gerenality of the Volvo cars models. He made himself for anyone with a model like the S40 / V40 and who doesn't mind traveling to UK Midlands / North West to try it out in his car to test if it works, so that we can have an alternative for the future. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...253191&page=81 I propose to pay up to 50% of the value of the device, if in case it works with our models to the person who wants to test the Dice with cheshired5. I don't know the address cheshired5, but you can reach it through the forum here. What do you say? Thanks in advance. Regards, Mike Last edited by mike v40; Mar 2nd, 2021 at 08:58. |

Hi Mike
I already have a dice and also have a back up one, so don't need another one personally. But if you want, you can arrange with Chesired5 to post me the DiCE, to test it on my car and if it works, I can forward it to you. And unfortunately, he is miles away from me, as I am down in the south east of England. With regards to not being able to send PMs, you can post in this thread: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=99800 and ask the mods to lift the limit for you, so you can send PMs

Thank you very much for your readiness Gatos.
I have already sent a request to the administration to have access to private messages. Let me see with Chesired5 so that we can arrange this meeting. However I would like to pay you for fuel and lunch, ok? I can find a way to transfer the amount of expenses, don't worry about it! And, I insist! I just ask you to be prudent about the pandemic situation! Regards, Mike |

I'm sorry but I didn't get it right. Yes, it is a long way from you and of course I also didn’t want to abuse your kindness at all. With the current pandemic situation it is very dangerous to travel! I already talked to Simon (CheshireD5), and he will send you the Dice for you to test tomorrow ... If it goes well, as I hope (fingers crossed )I ask you to send it to me please. I will send you the respective amount of postage. It can be through Paypal, or another payment method as you wish. I really appreciate your attitude guys! I wish you all the best! Note: I still don't have Pms active so far, I await contact from the administration. Cheers, Mike |

Not a problem Mike. Already spoke to Simon and he will be sending the DICE. I will keep both of you updated with what is happening.
PS. I will message you my email, so you can contact me if you need.
