Most of those cars are a bit new for me, so how about a 1954 Standard 8 at 28 bhp?

Until recently, I owned two very similar Raleigh mopeds. The earlier (1962) RM4 was rated at 1.4 BHP while the later (1965) RM6 had 1.7 - you really could tell the difference between the two machines, especially when riding uphill or into a headwind! Regards, John.

1993 Skoda Favorit 1.3: 67 bhp (difficult to overtake a tractor)
1997 Honda Civic 3 dr 1.4: 90 bhp 2001 Volvo S60 2.0T: 180 bhp 2007 Honda Civic Type S GT: 140 bhp 2009 VW Scirocco GT 2.0 TSI: 200 bhp Current 2012 Volvo S60 R Design T4: 180 bhp Current 2015 Mini Coupe Cooper S: 184 bhp 180 - 200 bhp in a road car is usually fine, you can’t realistically use much more than that. The VW TSI was by far the nicest of these engines, very flexible, economical and could pin you back in your seat. The 1.6 engines in the Volvo and Mini could do with more torque - the Mini is a sporty little thing and amazing to drive but I’ve been left for dead in a straight line by an old woman in a Nissan Qashqai and beaten at the traffic light GP by a Vauxhall Mokka driver - I very rarely lose a drag race but people seem to race the Mini more readily than the Volvo |
