Default Have I got this right???

Due to lock-down the devil finds work of idle minds. So, today I have been trying to find out some Info about the "Chassis Plate" and the details thereon. What rocked my world was the realisation that my 2015MY V70 D5 has a max gross weight of 2300kgs,which seems fine until I remembered the tare weight of my car is 1909kgs only giving me 391kgs of load.
I'm 6'3" and 105 kgs so overweight but not obese. This puts the caravan/cycling holiday with my 3 brothers ( same size possibly a little heavier) on hold eh?? ( 400kgs people + caravan nose weight)
What is surprising I ran a 2002 V70 T5 and that could carry a load of 601kgs ( I looked it up again to be sure) as I used to be a commercial traveler for my daily crust, and carried 500kgs of goods in the rear ( seats down)
Are cars less strong now or has everyone become safety obsessed?

Cheers
Bob

105kg is obese. Payload are pretty interesting, I understand tar weight often includes 70kg driver.

You are correct tare weight does include a driver, but the Volvo web page I was on did not give any detail of driver weight. Even so I still find it unnerving that 4 adults and a caravan can exceed the max load capacity of what I consider a large vehicle.
On a lighter note according to nhs website my bmi is under 30 so am not obese
Cheers Bob
