Default S40 1.6D Bad Turbo

I have a 07 S40 1.6D R-Design that I just purchased, very sluggish at high speed and limits revs at 3k RPM (limp mode I’m guessing). Digging into the car I found the compressor nut for the turbo in the intake filter and the turbo is seized onto the housing.

While there are no check engine or warning lights on my dash (which I find odd being that the turbo is toasted) I did plug my scanner in and found a U0301 “Software incompatibility with ECM/PCM). Not sure if the turbo issue is throwing this code or something else?

With all this, I paid £1300 for the car. I can source a refurbished Garrett turbo for about £400 and will do the labor myself. Looking into the forums, there’s some items I need to inspect as well such as the oil sump/pick up line, intercooler, oil cooler, etc. The car is in decent shape despite the turbo. Any advice, links to parts or diagrams would greatly be appreciated.

PS: Is this even worth my time or am I better off scraping the car?

you have just purchased someone else's problem car which they could have done all sorts of bodges to. The software code is worrying if they have tried to download something and it has messed up the system.
It is easy enough to fix the turbo problem but maybe not the software problem... Did you buy the car knowing it had the faults?

When a turbo fails dont just replace it, there is only one killer for a turbocharger ..that's a problem with the oil supply. the new one will go the same way if it isnt sorted.
If you have knowledge and can sort the car go ahead, if not sell it on as faulty...

My 2017 V60 says "Software incompatibility with ECM/PCM" - I've seen it mentioned elsewhere, not sure it's something to be too worried about.
