Default Volvo V40 D2 2.0 turbo 2017 Crank but donīt Start

Fuel pressure problem in my V40 D2 2.0 turbo 4 cil. 2017

Diesel filter changed (is below the fuel tank), my car have an electric diesel pump in the fuel tank that provides low fuel pressure from tank to high pressure pump in the engine, this electric pump is working. I suppose it provides enough pressure to fill the new filter and fuel line up to the mechanical high pressure pump, since I have opened the line that goes to it and there is diesel on it and no air already.

I have no pressure from mechanical high pressure pump to injectors.
Tried to crank with a little of ether and engine runs, so timming is Ok and the engine with the correct fuel pressure suppose to work.
Fuses on engine bay are all good.
I have opened the upper cap of the HP pump and when the engine cranks it comes fuel out from the fuel return holes (low pressure), but no fuel at all to the line that goes to the injectors (no high pressure).

Test the coil in the pump and it works when providing external power (tried with 5V to test and it works).

Any ideas about what can be the problem?

Clogged pump, or dirt inside, or something else with the pump? (don't want to remove it yet since the belt is connected to the timming.)
Preasure valve or solenoids, ECM???

I am stuck here...
Thank you

Hi
Most likely it will be the high pressure fuel pump, timing belt needs to be removed to replace it, common fault on the diesel VEA engine, susperseeded part number from. Volvo, some second hand ones available but still around Ģ500, new around Ģ1200 +

Mines just been into Volvo 2015 D4, fuel pipe came off pump, new fitted then was cutting out, dealer put it down to timing out, adjusted it, Road test and the belt came off! Engine rebuild which they put down to the main fuel pump seizing up. Luckily had Volvo used warranty so costs covered which included pump, cam shaft rockers etc.

Updating...
The car does not start cranking as usually.
Spraying little ether in the admission hose, the car starts and keeping throttle accelerating over 1500 revs, the car keeps running perfectly. If revs goes under 1500 the car stops and didn`t stars by itself. spraying again, the car starts again and engine runs perfect over 1500. this means high pressure pump is OK.
I thought bad diesel quality, however with the engine over 1500 revs. it respond perfectly...
Any ideas on what the problem could be? (electric fuel pump in the tank, pressure or another sensor).

Thank you all for your post and help!
If something alike happens to your car, check the fuel pressure valves in high pressure pump and fuel rail. I could not remove the valve from fuel rail (extremely tight to remove) so I changed the fuel rail with valve included and problem fixed.
