Default Selling an XC60 with a couple of issues- advise?

Howdy All.

So I was thinking about trying to find some alloys that look something similar to what volvo might put on the car, a quick google suggests this'll be about 500 bucks for four, so I can flog my good zephyrus, one bad one and two so-so and almost break even. With my beemer I was able to find someone reasonably local (east anglia) who traded my scrully alloys for looky-likey BMW wheels but can't find anything similar here?

For the bumper, I guess it's a repair job, I've been keeping an eye on ebay for a few weeks for a bumper with no joy.

As for the new engine, I'm minded to explain this to potential purchasers cos I'm an honest type.

What say the wisdom, o dear forum?

From what you have posted sounds like your car has had a pretty hard life.

Best bet is to be honest about what needs to be done. Volvo buyers/owners/drivers are not the same as BMW or any other brand. You could choose to go down the route of not mentioning it and get thoroughly depressed when someone crawls over your car with a fine tooth comb and lists all the faults or, you could come clean up front, or get lucky with someone who does not crawl all over the car.

Sounds like alloys need refurbishment, the engine's blown and the bodywork has had a ding or two. Besides that sounds a peach

Sorry, I posted in the wrong thread and seem to have cack-handedly managed to lose a couple of paragraphs that miss vital detail in the copy and paste

Please Let me try again...

2010 XC60 Drive 170bhp, SE Lux with lots of toys, Nav, Leather, 35,000 miles.

Other than issues below, in really good condition.

Issues are:

1) head gasket(!) went a couple of months ago and engine replaced by Volvo.
Not a fault as such and arguably a benefit but doubt buyer will see it like that. Guess it's only fair I inform the seller.

2) One alloy has a chewed edge, the other three are perfect other than a couple of white spots where the lacquer looks like it's failed. They are the 18" Zephyr Alloys which are rather expensive and seemingly difficult to repair. So I'm wondering if buying non-volvo but looks-like-volvo-and-not-chav wheels is a good idea, and if so where

3) dent in rear bumper via parking mishap. Inch long line just on the pained bit of the bumper, the grey plastic is slightly effected. Id guess a new bumper is in order, can't see anything coming up on ebay

I realise that reading that it sounds like a turkey; it's a sweet car and I've detailed it regularly, and it's immaculate inside, so I want to show it in the best light to sell it, without spending what I won't see back.

Difficult to price by looking on auto trader as there are so few, I'm hopefully thinking that with issues above fixed (well 2&3) I'm looking to ask for about £15K, seem fair?

Hi Chaplic

Reading your first post it sounded like a 'ruff en'.

Your post above kinda explains matters better. Manual or auto?

All the best with the sale. Sounds a fair price if all now good.

Regards

Manual. Wheel and bumpers not sorted yet, just looking for some sage advice that it's a good idea and to see if anyone has any bright ideas, especially over the wheels

I would leave the wheels and bumper alone and be prepared to drop the price to make a new owner feel happy to deal with them.
I doubt if someone buying a 4 year old car would expect perfection......and being up front about that ought to be fine.
On the engine: not sure. If Volvo have given a decent warrenty on the new unit, then it should definitely be a plus.....but difficult to know how people might react. It could put some off viewing.....and you need them to see/hear it in action (presumably it drives very well?)
Price: I'd check on autotrader for similar to see.
Good luck!

Use we buy any car to get your bottom price, then add £1500 on that.

Get the one wheel refurbished but leave others. Get a quote for bumper repair so you know how much is involved. Engine ought to be mentioned. It wouldn't put me off.

Good luck.
