Main beam won't stay on
Morning,
Driving back late the other night I went to put main beam on, only to discover the switch doesn't lock into position any more - i.e., the headlamps work fine and illuminate but only if I hold the stick back. The indicator function works fine incidently. Any ideas?! |

Not meaning to be cheeky, but... did you have the headlights switched on?
I've been caught out this way before. Because of the DRLs, the headlights are on even when they're not switched on, so when it's dark I sometimes forget to turn the switch. However, the main beam latch only works when the switch is switched to the ON position.

As the others have said, you need to switch your lights on.

Ahem, well, yes - I did say it was late the other night. I quite often forget to switch the headlamps on, as DRL are always on.....
Thanks all! |

Does it make any difference turning the lights on apart from not being able to lock the high beams on as most of my driving is in areas with street lights and don't need high beams.

No High Beam
Before anyone asks ! Did I switch on my Lights to the 12 O'clock position ? the Answer is Yes: The Main Beam does not come on at all when I Flick the switch as in to Put the Main Beam on: What I Have noticed; when I have the Switch turned off at the three O'clock Position: when I flick the switch as if to put the main Beam on; the Lights flick on and off: I don't think that it is the Main Beam that comes on though; it's just the Headlights and not high Beam: Could anybody Tell me if there are two Fuses One for the High Beam and one for the low Beam or are they on the same Fuse?? Could it be that I have a blown fuse or maybe Both Lights decided to blow at the same time: Everything was Perfect without a hitch, Now the old Girl is playing up she's a 51 Plate V 40 Diesel estate Is there anyone that Has Knowledge
