New XC90 versus Polestar 3
Interesting article on the Autocar website about the differences between the former, as yet unnamed car, and the Polestar 3:
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...cter-new-3-suv With the new XC90 being BEV I wonder if they will keep the old car in production for a while rather like Porsche will do with the new flavour of Macan? I won't need the third row seats with my next 'big' car so the Polestar in interesting but I might be keener on the next XC60.

I realise the title could have been clearer, hence no replies!
I was talking about the new shape XC90 due in 2022 or 2023 as there appears to have been little news about it recently but the Polestar 3 appears to be on the same chassis but with a fancy body. Hopefully they pull that off better than BMW does with the X4/X6 'coupe' products.

Am no it sure the new xc90 will be only bev - will also be phev i think. Seems unlikely to me that old xc90 will continue in parallel. I am more interested in timing - I could go for slightly more expensive subscription that would allow me to shift from current model to new one when available but could be a waste of money. Due to get new car in May 22 but no clear idea when new xc90 will surface

Rumour is that new XC90 will be called Embla following some trademark application.
Comes from Norse mythology, and represents the first woman created by the gods. All I hope is that the launch is late 2022 so there is still some run out XC90s to replace my current one when my lease expires as very much doubt I’ll be able to stretch to the new version at time of launch. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...xc90-successor

The chairman of Volvo has already stated just a few weeks back that the new XC90 will have a name and will not be called XC90. The XC90 moniker will not be used as it won't be a direct replacement and will not fill the exact same market niche, and from that model forth they'll be moving into names and not alphanumeric designators.
Of course, he could change his mind, or be deliberately keeping the press on their toes, but it seems unlikely.
