Default Sensus to Google

Does anyone know if there is a hardware change involved between the move from Sensus to Google? For the older Sensus models are people able to update the software over to the Google operating system or are you locked onto the Sensus system due to hardware restrictions?

Unknown whether the Google Infotainment runs on different hardware to Sensus but it's something of a moot point as Volvo don't offer Google Infotainment as an upgrade.

From the reviews and feedback. It sounds like the Google system is a step back compared to the current Sensus system. When my lease is up. I’ll be moving away from Volvo on this basis.

2 different user reviews FYI

The Google system is a bit of a ‘beta’ but it’s way better than the Sensus system I had on my old XC60. Navigation is like night and day

Useful to know you are locked to what you get but a shame if is just a software lock. Right now google seems worse but you’d expect with time it will improve.

The Google System isn't a step back at all. Both the videos mention the lack of USB audio file playback, however that is no longer the case and audio from USB works fine with the AudioWagon app from Moleman. Yes there are cars that left the production line without the chips for the BLIS system or 360 camera but they are/will return in due course anyway. So a shame to move away based on what you have heard. I received my Volvo last week and it has everything I wanted and I am very glad I didn't listen to some of the negativity. The AAOS with Google works very well where I am, which is rural, and I can only put some problems some have experienced down to user error or even poor setup carried out before delivery. The Bowers & Wilkins hifi works superbly as well and the Design Pro set up is fantastic with the 22inch wheels, nothing like the bumpy ride reported by some over cobbles when in town or bumpy roads and we have plenty of those around here. The Mercedes I had before had 21inch wheels and you truly felt everything, this Volvo XC60 air suspension absorbs plenty of that shake and is so much smoother. Anyways best of luck with your choice.
