Unhappy Oh dear, loss of power after a chicane?

Hi,
i think my volvo bubble is bursting? (i hope not), I'd just dropped the missus off at work and on the way home we have a bridge with a chicane anyway i went through it quite fast, causing some body roll in either direction and then started to hold back (loose power) then came back for few seconds then really started loosing power i only just limped home.
Like i'd run out of petrol which is full as i only filled up the night before!

Would this be a sign of a weak fuel pump now?
Looks like i'm going to have to get my Volvo specialist look at Ernie!

If the fuel filter or the fuel tank has rubbish in them, de pressurise the systymn by pushing the tyre valve looking bit beside injector 1 on the fuel rail in to a rag.
Undo the filter beneath the passanger seat (outside) on the feed side first, then on the engine side, ANY rusty water or DIESEL in the filter , change it.

If you have a carb could be the jets blocked
if you strip the carb clean them out with air and not wire as you could damage the jets that way but first undo the fuel pipe to the carb to check that fuel is getting to it
Mine has a manual pump so I have to turn the engin over to check.
by also be a hole in the float
If no fuel is getting through could be pump neads replacing or the filters blocked

Yes, you most certainly can get crud in the plastic tank..not from the Tank itself...but fuel itself is never as clean as you think..neither are the main holding tanks at forecourts...if you have run it low..then it's most likely your problem....most folk never bother to change the Fuel filter..thinking only diesels need that.

So my advice..clean out the tank...and consider getting your injectors cleaned too..by 'Jimathan' on this very forum...not vital..but the injectors have filter baskets too....I suspect it's the filter now full of crud..and it get's stirred up when either low..or passing through Chicanes (or both).

Injectors should be cleaned maybe every 40k anyway...

I think the Fuel Filter is around £15 from Volvo...and Jim charges £40 by return of post..for the injectors..money well spend if you like the car and think you may keep it.

this is the first time i've experienced crud in the tank situation! although it seems my maf sensor has packed up! along with the steering rack idle problems. i've gone back to my escort for now at least that runs properly!!!
i'm absolutely gutted to say the least

I just can't believe you have had so many problems with this car. It wasn't that long ago I was driving it mile after trouble free mile. I probably shouldn't say anything but I was genuinely attached to this vehicle and I meant it when I said I couldn't imagine it would give you any hassle.

I know that car had fuel filter change but I can't remember how long ago. There will be a receipt for it.

When you say maf, what do you mean? Do you mean the plug on the air box? If so I have a spare one you could try.

Whats wrong with the steering rack?

yes i can't believe it myself it was brill up till now! right i'm after the mass air flow meter the device on top of the airbox. if you have one i could try that would be great!

the steering rack seals have gone i get no assistance when the weather is really cold until the rack has warmed up, my specialist has confirmed this.

thanks
