Default Shudder at low revs

Hello,

My V70 D4 VEA (2015) shudder when the car is slowly accelerating at low revs (1200 - 1600rpm). Has anybody an idea what is going wrong?
- EMAP is clear and okay (350kpa @ full throttle)
- swirl flaps are also okay
- Inlet manifold is clean (pressure wash, dismantled)
- EGR valve and cooler are new, EGR is disabled in the software.
Problem is worse when engine is cold, when warm it is hardly noticable

No errors.

Fuel consumption is ok, no oil consumption.

Have you checked the union in the air intake pipe where the breather meets?

Mine had a crack around the base which was letting in/out unmetered air.

Good point, when I bought the car a few months ago this pipe was held together with electrical tape. I glued it again with 2-compenent glue. So normally this should be OK. I'll check this this afternoon, just to be sure.

I found no cracks in the upper pipe, everything seems airtight. I also cleaned the emap pipe with a brake cable to be sure that it is not partialy clogged. I have not driven with the car yet.

Has the fuel filter been changed?

That's a lot of miles without changing the filter... 65,000 miles.

I suggest changing that to see if it makes a difference. Old fuel filters can cause all sorts of issues and its a cheap part.

Filter is only 28000 miles old, but I will replace it anyhow. I'll do this normally tomorrow. I already changed oil + filter this morning.

It is strange as you’ve checked the things that most people find as the issue.

Is yours an auto? I noticed a big improvement by changing the 3 torque rods which support the engine-this was suggested by a friendly Volvo tech at the dealer when I picked up the replacement intake tube. Nothing was visually wrong but I guess the rubber had softened.

2 of them are pretty easy. One chunky one at the bottom was difficult as I didn’t have a shallow enough socket&ratchet combo to easily get the bolt. Think it was about £150 for all 3.
