Default 2004 V40 autobox thump

Hi, new headache, have experienced a thump from the autobox occasional over the last week. noticed it happens when turning and accelerating ie exiting a roundabout, bend.

There is some autobox oil leakage from the cooler pipes according to my mechanic. My question is, is this something that could caused by low oil in the box and could be fixed by fixing the leak and replacing topping up oil, or something potentially catastrophic, ie knackered gearbox, or some other item component of the box like a control item, servo, solenoid etc?

I suggest fixing the leak and topping up the fluid. See if that helps.

If it does, then a transmission fluid change might help (if it hasn't been done before). Leak needs sorting first though.

If that doesn't work, then there could be something wrong with the transmission itself.

Topped it up, now all ok with autobox, have sourced a 2nd hand oil cooler for £300, not bought it as I’ll try and get the leaking oil cooler repaired 1st.
