The Renault 12 is certainly an oddball. In extroarinarily nice condition at first glance but it has had a new shell, everything else rebuilt with a more modern engine and gearbox and other more modern upgrades. For someone who could tolerate it being French, it looks like it would actually be a good car.

No Othen my post about VED exemption wasn't a cheap shot[or at least it wasn't meant to be] I have absolutely no objection to 40 years old and older being exempt.I was just trying to point out that should pay per mile replace VED then that perk will disappear unless they can differentiate the "historics" from the rest.My two cars are far from reaching the 40 year milestone, the V70 will be 25 next January and the Omega 25 next March so obviously not historic[and you could make the case they're not even "classics" and I wouldn't argue-that's not the reason I bought them]and I accept I have to pay VED on them. The MoT exemption I still think is a stupid idea as it's too open to abuse by the less scrupulous who drive amongst us.A slightly modified MoT as has been suggested by MooMoo[I think]would be better than no test at all.
