My dad's new '97 V70 has climate control. Works great, but it seems the A/C is always on. Perhaps this is how it works but the A/C light is on regardless of any of the switches positions (ie. whether at the Auto position or not).
The only way to get the A/C light to "off" is to switch the fan to the 0 position. Any ideas? |

Is the heat directed at the screen? If so the AC will be on all the time.

Right so if it's told to aim at the windscreen the A/C comes on regardless? Sorry if it seems stupid, never had a car with C/C before!

I have it in my mind that because the aircon also dehumidifies, the Climate Control tends to keep it on most of the time. I know that it's always on in the demist setting, even if you have manually pressed the aircon off button!
I find that my S70 with Climate Control tends to want to run the aircon all the time too. Pete

Confirmed. After some messing around, it auto switches on and off as you enter and exit demist mode. Annoying really, I hate having the aircon running when I don't want it to be. C'est la vie!

Hiya,
I think a tip given by others on here before is to turn the direction dial just past the windscreen icon - this still flows air in pretty much the right direction but is no longer in exactly the right position for the 'air-con on' override to be activated. HTH, Pete
