Hi does any one have any experiance using the company chip tuning ltd (http://www.volvotuninguk.com or http://www.chiptuninguk.com/index.asp)? Good/Bad, efficient, well priced?
Also has anyone had their s40 1.6 diesel remapped? Was it worth it? Pro/cons? Thanks for your help |

I decided to treat myself to an early xmas present and took my S40 2.0 D to HLM Chip Tuning and had it remapped just before the xmas holidays. I have to say Hamish is probably the most pleasant amiable garage owner I have ever met. He tuned and fault code read the car using a new piece of equipment that he was very proud of. He also ran the car on their rolling road before and after all for under £400. Over the xmas break I have covered many miles visiting friends and family and I have to say the difference is stunning. Mis-information? Where? The threads I directed the original poster too contain very accurate details of work undertaken by a specific garage in a less than satisfactory way. There are considerably more details on several forums.
You visited HLM, and are happy with the work they did. That's fine. Alas, the same cannot be said of other people whom have used the same garage. You have also formed your opinion of the proprieter of the company, that is also you perogative. Unfortunately, people I know and trust whom have had rather more contact with him are considerably less complimentary. This is a forum, people come here for advice and information. The vast majority of members here do their level best to answer the questions asked of them.

I read from your reply that your opinion of the guy is based on hear say and second hand information. I prefer to give my opinions from personal experiences and not recycle somebody else's story of woe.

He's a liar and charlatan and a cr*p very expensive mechanic to boot! As for him doing a remap, it was never him doing them (remaps) to begin with but rather the other director of the firm who no longer works there and who has resigned as a director of the firm. Hence no doubt why he's now using a new "wonder box" to confuddle people..... Those links you were pointed to WERE peoples personal experiences of the arrogance and lack of anything approaching competence, or professionalism from the Guy. Feel free to visit him, but don't come back bitching that he's fubared your car or conned you you have had more than enough information to see that he's no good, even the Manufacturer of RICA remaps pulled the UK distributorship from them over the last furore! <No doubt why he has that new "wonder box"

Ben,
Please stop shouting and swearing at me. I'm really sorry but you come across as somebody who has very limited 'social skills'. I find your aggressive manner rather disturbing. I genuinely feel sorry for you Ben and I do hope you get the right help after all we are only 'talking cars' on a discussion board. Roger. |

Yes <cough> "Roger"........ Aggressive Manner and swearing "at you", dear me you really need to get out more I find your manner condescending and unnecessarily complementary of a crook you dismissed "third hand/heresay" comments, so I repeated my personal experience which is what you asked for. Strangely enough, you sound just like yet another HLM Plant, and have similar views about "talking cars" that Hamish does.... I wonder, Hamish reappearing on the vpc site, and you suddenly posting this propogana in the same week... how peculiar.... Never mind, feel free..... At the same time, I'll feel free to post my experience, bearing in mind I've paid my subs to VOC. BTW if my manner offends you, feel free not to read it
