Cool Temp guage faulty?

Evening all

I've just added a '95 940 D24TIC to the fleet and I have to say, what a beast!!

A little tatty, but it's the new work-bus so I'm not really bothered.

Considering how long the D24's been around, it's a belter, nice smooth power delivery, bags of torque, smooth idling (my old 2.8 diesel Shogun used to rattle my fillings loose at idle!)

A little more power would be nice, but that can be cured with a little more fuel and boost

But above all... What a noise!!

Anyway... The problem in hand:

My temperature guage doesn't work, straight from cold it reads half way and doesn't move.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers in advance, Steve

Hi, Sounds like sender unit rather than thermostat.

Hi,

Thanks for that.

If I manage to find the sender, if I unplug it, should the needle read zero?

Thus diagnosing the problem?

Thanks, Steve

Thanks guys.

Oilydad: the link you gave me only seems to cover the petrol models, that's the trouble with the D24 I suppose, it's a bit of a rare beast.

Haynes don't even cover it

Oh well, I'm sure I'll be able to find it, very few sensors on this engine so I'm sure it'll be easy enough.

I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

Thanks, Steve
