What engine is this
Hello all.
The engine in my Volvo Amazon is not the original and I am having some difficulty finding out what car it is from and what spec it is. I have looked through all of the posts regarding engine numbers but it isn't on there which makes me think it might be out of a 140 or something. Engine is a B18. Number is 4698 31 1439. Does anyone have a way of finding out please. Thanks in advance Joe |

If it's 51 and not 31 it's a B18B from 1967-1968. This number is stamped or etched into the machined pad. This engine would have the two threaded holes to mount an alternator bracket. This was to accommodate an alternator on the 123GT. Other models of that year would have had the mount cast in but would have retained a dynamo.
