Default C70 Battery

Hi guys,

Bit of advice needed please.

At the beginning of the week my car seemed a bit sluggish when I tried to start it...just didn't sound right and took longer than normal to start.

The car has been sitting in the dirveway for two days and I just went to start it up and unfortunately it keeps turning but it doesn't wanna start.

It's a Bosch battery and it's only about 6 months old.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening? Would it be ok to just re-charge it?

Kind regards

Hi,
If it continully turns the engine over and assuming it's not an internal problem then I would doubt it is the battery that is at fault. Suggest you check all the electrical connections under the bonnet first. Re-charge the battery then try again.
Good luck with it.

Following on from my posting yesterday, I had my battery charging overnight and it started fine this morning.
I thought I'd better take the battery to be tested and it was tested on some machine called a Midtronics Intech 35P if that means anything to any of you.

The results are shown below:

Battery Test
Good Battery
Volts 12.75V
Measured 592A EN
Rating 470A EN

Starter Test
Normal
Volts 10.73V

Charging Test
Low
Volts 13.21V

Does any of this mean anything to anyone and if so would you recommend any solutions?

The guy who tested the battery said that the battery isn't charging properly ans mentioned something about replacing the brushes on the alternator but I have no idea what he is talking about.

It is the alternator which charges the battery so if there is wear it will give the impression that the battery is at fault. The bushes in the alternator wear down over time but can be reconditioned relatively easily. Most motor factors can supply a recon alternator but will require yours in exchange.

I just replaced my alternator since I couldn't find any brush packs for it. Little bit of a pain of a job but can be done on a drive way.

The manufacturer of your alternator will most probably be able to supply the bushes. Alternatively, these guys can recondition it for you:
