Cool oops i should stop fidiling!

hi, again i was checking my oil and water after my shift but out curiousty i pulled the plug off my maf sensor to see if how my 850 would run....well it run s***t so i plugged it back in and it stalled.

my 850 restarted fine and if i'm honest seems to run better? but i now have the green triangle warning light obviously i triggered a fault but there isn't a fault it was me!

what i'm tring to say is how do i clear it, do i need to disconnect the battery for several hours?

cheers

simon.

disconnect 1 of the battery terminals for 5-10 mins then reconnect and viola.. lights out. car might run a little more rough than usual as the ECU will have been reset and need to learn for a few miles. also may use more fuel while its doing this but within a day or 2 it should be back to normal.

It'll do it more good than pulling the maf sensor connector out with the engine running anyway

never worry.. i was out pulling sensor connections the other day too lol

if u pull the connector off the ICV and put it back on u can hear it pop open or closed (whichever way it works) under the vacuum pressure in the inlet. my idle seems to be a smidge lower than before after doing that and resetting the ECU.. also revs seem to drop quicker between gears and when revving and lifting off. think my revs were hanging a little before as it feels better to drive now.

i suppose the ecu being a computer benefits from having the power turned off from time to time like a reboot.

Maybe d/c overnight and put back on when you need the car. Ive heard some people say few hours and some say 24.. Try for as long as you dont need the car. If your not going to use the car sunday, do sat night and put back on late as possible (upto 24 hours i suppose)

If it's pre '96 use this method:

http://volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php

If it later with the OBDII socket under the coin holder, look in artices and make the DIY LED code reader.

The method of use is the same as the link above.

For a '96 with the OBDII socket the fuel system is on pin 3 and the ignition on pin 1.
