V40 Auto and @Autostop feature
Does anyone know if the Autostop function can be selected off as default and to be selected on if required?
I find it a complete PITA with Automatic transmission and always select it off after starting the car, its that moment for example when pulling up at a roundabout and just stopping, allowing the autostop to operate but then accelerating to pull away and suffering the hesitancy. Hope that makes sense, very off-putting. Always found it a great boon on manual cars with it operating on the clutch, but way different to it operating with the footbrake release. So wondering if it is an option to change with VIDA/Dealer action. Cheers all.

Not in the EU. I believe Volvos sold in the US have the option to permanently disable it, so it should be possible somehow.
Presumably EU emission regulations require that for the emission reduction from stop/start to be included in the figures, it must be activated each time you start the car. |

A company called CanM8 produce a canbus interface unit that can permanently disable start/stop.
Alternatively you can reconfigure the system to work as you describe with Vdash (www.d5t5.com) but you will have to download their software and have a DiCE unit to connect to the car. You have to use the software to crack your CEM pin-code first, then you can reprogram various functions. The software and CEM cracking are free. The cost for reconfiguring start/stop was 120 euros when I did mine. You can choose from several options such as disabling it altogether or defaulting it to be off each time the car is started, but still selectable via the dash button. All changes are reversible and you can swap between them at no additional cost once you have paid to use the function. |
