Xc60 ABS/ESC failure
Hello guys, i own volvo xc60 2015 2.4 d5 for already a month everything was going fine till last Thursday when on my way to work i’ve got ABS light + the low tyre pressure light and a message on my dashboard Tyre pressure service required and ESC temporarily off, later on in the evening when i started my journey back to home once i start the engine all both lights and the message just gone by itself anyway i’ve check the pressure and everything seems ok. But in Saturday morning way to work again i got the same lights on and message on my dashboard stopped the car and the engine immediately and start it up again everything gone again, and this morning i got both light again on the same message again but this time i got one more message ABS/ESC failure service required. I’m thinking that might be any of the sensors, but haven’t read the codes yet.

Xc60 abs light
Hello V31kov,
I know this post is over a year old… but did you get to the bottom of this? My 2014 xc60 d5 is now showing the same warning light. Huge thanks for any advice - & perhaps you could forewarn me of costs…!! |

My XC60 had the same issue and it was the abs sensor on front driver's side. £87 for new sensor from dealer and changed it myself.
Straightforward job Iain

I've just had this today.
Does a new ABS sensor fix all 3 warnings ( ABS, ESC and TPMS ) ?

When mine went, so did cruise control, so there are a number of faults that show up, not necessarily all faulty.

TPMS is definitely driven from ABS sensor, it's a better system than those ones fitted in the valves, it measures the pulses to sense if one wheel is turning at different speed to the others, this indicates if the radius of the wheel centre to contact patch has changed i.e. lost air.

So, mine wasn't the ABS sensor, but knackered wheel bearings - they said that can cause those warning lights/messages to appear.
Been advised to also get the ABS sensor replaced at the same time, as it may have been damaged.

First long journey in mine ended with front off side wheel bearing failing. As a consequence, it melted the ABS sensor. Both covered by warranty.

To close this off - my wheel bearing replaced today, and indeed the ABS sensor had been damaged so that too was replaced. All warning messages now gone, including the City Safety one which other threads implied couldn't be done at an indie and needed to be done by Volvo, but thankfully my Indie was able to reset the City Safety system :-)
